With hearts heavy with grief, the family of Lauren Mychelle Jones, 40, of Richmond, announces her sudden passing on November 29, 2025. Lauren was a woman of authenticity—straightforward, honest, and unafraid to speak her mind. She lived life boldly and unapologetically, and those who truly knew her appreciated and loved her for exactly who she was. She loved fiercely, protected those she cared about, and showed up for family and friends in her own genuine, unwavering way.
Lauren devoted her life to Eldercare, a field in which she truly excelled. Caring for older adults was both her gift and her calling. With patience, compassion, and steady support, she made a meaningful difference in the lives of her clients and their families. Whether assisting with daily living tasks or offering companionship during difficult moments, Lauren brought dignity and comfort to those she served. Her dedication reflected her deep sense of responsibility and her desire to bring care and humanity into the lives of others—especially on the hard days. Her impact in this work will be remembered with gratitude.
Family was central to Lauren’s world. She embraced the love, laughter, and closeness of her tight-knit family, and among her cousins, she was known as the one who could make everyone laugh. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts—her jokes, playful teasing, and joyful presence brightened every gathering. Her laughter was contagious, and her spirit lifted all who shared space with her.
Lauren shared a unique talent with her mother—an exceptional ability to clean, organize, and bring order to any environment. When she cleaned, a room didn’t just become tidy; it became beautifully arranged, reflecting her eye for detail and her pride in creating calm, welcoming spaces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Jones Jr., whose memory she held close throughout her life. We find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with him in peaceful rest.
Lauren leaves behind her loving mother, Cathy L. Burrell, whose strength and devotion shaped her life; her paternal grandmother, Lena Audrey Jones; her beloved cat of over eleven years, Milky, a source of constant comfort and joy; her aunts, Denise Smith (William), Marcia Winnegan, and Andrea Henderson (Arnold V); her great-aunts Vivian Claxton and Agnes Crawley; cousins Arnold VI, Chloe, Jonathan, Jennifer, Sean, Keith, Samantha, Debbie, Marcel, and Shaiann; and a host of extended family and friends, including her lifelong friend Ja’Nae Dickerson, as well as the many lives she touched through her work in Eldercare. Her legacy is one of humor, honesty, loyalty, and enduring love.
A memorial service celebrating Lauren’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Scott’s Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Boulevard, where family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life lived with compassion, strength, and authenticity.
